WW becomes a winter wonderland
Children enjoy fun in the snow across our homes
When the snow arrived at Wilderness last week it was met with much excitement by our children – some of whom had never experienced a snow day before!
We are so lucky at WW that our homes are all situated within the beautiful natural environments of southern Scotland, Cumbria and Northumberland. This means that when the snow falls it is a perfect opportunity for our children and their carers to get outside and have some fun.
So when they opened the curtains last week to see a carpet of snow, our care and outdoor teams across Wilderness enthusiastically donned their wellies and waterproofs and set about making sure our children had some adventures and made some memories. From building snowmen and igloos and having snowball fights in the garden, to making sledges and sliding down our local hills, unbridled fun was had by everyone.

This was a particularly memorable experience for those of our children who had never seen or played in the snow before. It was very moving for our carers to witness their excitement and wonder at the beauty of the landscape and how much fun it could be just to play around outside. This is surely something that our children and their carers will never forget.
Whilst most of us are now looking forward to some warmer weather, our children are wishing the snow would stay just a bit longer! But we can’t wait for them to find out about all the adventures that await them in the spring…
