A SAFE HAVEN
The secluded, rural locations of our homes provide a safe haven and restorative environment for the child, which plays a vital role in helping children feel grounded and supported as they move through their journey of recovery.
The majority of our homes offer individual group living, with one child in each home supported at all times by two carers. Some of our homes also offer small group living, with up to 2 children and their carers in each home. Each of our homes has been carefully chosen and designed to offer a warm and inviting space where children feel comfortable and safe. We create a therapeutic environment around the child which promotes strong relationships and meets their emotional and physical needs.

THERAPEUTIC ENVIRONMENT
We take pride in the quality of our homes. Each is designed to feel like a family home and is carefully selected for its peaceful surroundings, family feel and ability to meet the individual needs of the children who live there. Our homes are typically detached properties with their own gardens, located in rural communities where many have access to farmland, woodland and local wildlife.
These family-style homes offer each child the space to relax and experience the beauty of nature, away from previous distractions and the risks often associated with urban environments. Inside, spacious bedrooms provide a cosy and comfortable personal space, while the rest of the home helps create a safe, nurturing environment in which our care team can support each child’s physical and emotional wellbeing, alongside their social and emotional development.

THE POWER OF NATURE
At Wilderness Way we passionately believe in the positive impact that nature and the outdoors can have on physical and emotional health and wellbeing.
We take advantage of the rural environments in which our homes sit, and their gardens, to encourage our children to have fun and explore the outdoors whenever possible.
For some children this might be growing their own food, looking after chickens, organising a barbeque or having sports competitions in the garden. For others this might be hiking in the local woods, skimming stones in the river and foraging for food, or taking part in more adventurous activities such as rock climbing or kayaking on our local lakes. Whatever our children are able to do, we will support them to challenge themselves, learn and have fun in the great outdoors.
